While now retired, I'm open to discussing consulting and interim opportunities.  I have extensive experience with sports marketing, promotion, broadcasting and administration.  I've been an executive with the San Antonio Spurs as Director of Marketing where I had the opportunity to learn from Bob Bass, who I always considered my mentor.  I've had a lengthy career with administrative, marketing, sales, promotions and public relations positions with various San Antonio teams.  I have been a frequent guest lecturer of Sports Marketing & Management, having lectured at UTSA, Incarnate Word and TCU.

One highlight was bringing professional ice hockey to San Antonio and serving as General Manager in the inaugural season of the highly successful San Antonio Iguanas.  I've also served as President of the San Antonio Texans of the Canadian Football League and the San Antonio Dragons of the International Hockey League.  

I've also served as the Central Hockey League’s Director of Marketing and was an executive with the Continental Basketball Association  and President of New Orleans Arena Football and New Orleans Hockey where I worked for Tom Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints.  Another career highlight was as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, Public Relations and Broadcasting at UTSA was the creation of the football program where we set an NCAA record for average attendance for a 1st year program with over 35,000 a game.  That project was highly rewarding.

Outside of athletics, I was the Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of a medical company with multiple clinics for eight years and spent seven years in the financial industry.

While at UTSA my responsibilities were in building the UTSA Athletics brand, overseeing the Roadrunners marketing, promotional, sales, and sponsorship efforts, creating, managing, and growing the Roadrunners Sports Network, while providing on-air broadcasting for football and basketball telecasts and analyst for basketball radio broadcasts.  

Before retirement, I was the Athletic Director at Sul Ross State University in Texas and was promoted to VP of Finance and Operations and then VP of Advancement & Athletics. My portfolio was oversight of Alumni Relations, Communications, Athletics, Advancement, and the Museum of the Big Bend. 

I'm a native Texan, a graduate of Texas Lutheran University where I played basketball and served as a Co-Captain my senior year.  My favorite athletes are Jerry West and Bobby Orr and my favorite pro sports team is the Toronto Maple Leafs, I'm also a big Roger Staubach and Doug Flutie fan.  I'm married to my best friend and the smartest person I know,  Laurel, an educator and writer.  We have two great sons, one serving our country in the Navy as an RP (Religious Programming Specialist) and our youngest earned his hospitality degree and is working with a national hospitality company in the Dallas area.

 I love to travel and enjoy visiting stadiums and arenas during my travels.  I agree looking at empty buildings is not for everyone!

I consider my strengths to be marketing, promotion, event management, and broadcasting.  I know how to build a brand using creative and opportunistic means.
